GEO-CACHING INFORMATION SESSION

WHAT? Geo-Caching is a growing sport across the world with over 64,000 members. It is basically a high tech treasure hunt which can take you to places you never knew existed within your own local environment.

WHY
Geo-cach? This sport will give you the opportunity to explore the outdoors in the woods, on trails, in the downtown city cores, parks and local area of interests. You can do all this and get some exercise at the same time anywhere in the WORLD. It is a great outdoor sport for the young and the not so young. It is a sport for teachers and students who want to integrate history, math, social studies, geography, science and a creative mind while enjoying the outdoors.

What do
you need? A GPS, a Computer and an interest in the Outdoors

8:00 am-10:00 am – Breakfast with other Geo-cachers (self paid)

10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Presentation followed by Answers to all your Questions by experienced cachers in relation to the technology, where do I begin?, how much will it cost? Can I book a buddy for a mentor?

To set up a free geocaching account, go to: http://www.geocaching.com/This is a great family activity. The only down fall is that you do need a GPS but you can find a decent 2nd hand one for around $50-60. For a second hand one try http://www.kijiji.com/ and then type Fredericton (for our area) and look under computers. If you go to www.GPScentral.com you can also find some great deals on GPS units.
